The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

That straight line to heaven is Jesus Christ.

God's mysteries that we cannot see or understand, which is true of all of them, are like the air we breath. They are right in front of us and all around us and like the air, we inhale them with every breath yet totally unaware that we are. But in fact we are because we are, each of us, a part of the Mystical Body. God wants us to know just how close to His mysteries we really are. Then we can better enjoy His grace.

Yesterday the largest lottery in history was drawn. People were standing in long lines to get a ticket. It was headline news on every network. People had such large dreams of hitting the lottery. Even those like me who almost never play. Some people said that they just wanted to be a part of the action. Yeah, right. They wanted to win! They had dreams too!

Then came this morning and I watched the morning news before I got up out of bed. Of course I did not win. I did not have a single number. I was not upset because I did not expect anything knowing the odds.

So, now I started my day as usual and said my morning prayers. Part of my morning prayer always includes the morning readings for the day from the publication "GIve Us This Day." Part of this morning's readings was Genesis 26:2-5. The LORD made the same promise to Isaac that He made to his father, Abraham and the LORD told Isaac that it was because Abraham had done all that the LORD had asked.

This is what the LORD said to Isaac, "I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands, and in your descendants all the nations of the earth will find blessing..."

Go back and read that promise again and then again and spend some time to really think about it. You see, in our humanity, we get so caught up in earthly pleasures that we don't stop to think about the spiritual pleasures. We forget that the spiritual pleasures are not just for one in how ever many millions.

Spiritual pleasures come from God and are a promise from God to anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy them. We can no more count the number of stars in the sky than we can imagine how great and plentiful the rewards that we will recieve in heaven will be and heaven is promised to all who want to go there. Just be like Abraham and Isaac: do as the LORD says!

I looked out of my living room window during morning prayer and I was struck by God’s beauty and magnificence. It occurred to me that God is forever constant in His awesome power. But God’s creation is always in motion and forever changing.

We are always changing and always on the move. We make mistakes—commit sins. Sometimes we correct them and sometimes we do not. Either way, God does not stop loving us and continues to show us the way. Sometimes we follow and sometimes we do not.

I continued to look out of my window and saw the clouds moving and thought, yes, God’s creation never sits still. All of God’s creation is always on the move. And then I thought, space does not move. It is just there yet everything in space is always on the move.

As I pondered on this thought I realized that science tells us that space is still growing and expanding. Then it occurred to me that space does not stop growing because God does not stop giving.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Catechism of the Catholic Church
Paragraph 767 "When the work which the Father gave the Son to do on earth was accomplished, the Holy Spirit was sent on the day of Pentecost in order that he might continually sanctify the Church."174 Then "the Church was openly displayed to the crowds and the spread of the Gospel among the nations, through preaching, was begun."175 As the "convocation" of all men for salvation, the Church in her very nature is missionary, sent by Christ to all the nations to make disciples of them.176

The Holy Spirit came to Mary and the Apostles as tongues of fire.

We are face to face
with God's Will
whenever we look
at nature or
any part of nature.

Take a look
in the mirror.
God live inside
of each of us.

Surely the Lord
is in this place!
