Prayer for Peace

To the Creator of nature and humankind, of truth and beauty, I pray:

Hear my voice, for it is the voice of the victims of all wars and violence among individuals and nations.

Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all children who suffer and will suffer when people put their faith in weapons and war.

Hear my voice, I beg You to instill into the hearts of all human beings the wisdom of peace, the strength of justice, and the joy of fellowship.

Hear my voice, for I speak for the multitudes in every country and in every period of history who do not want war and are ready to walk the road of peace.

Hear my voice and grant insight and strength so that we may always respond to hatred with love, to injustice with total dedication to justice, to need with the sharing of self, to war and peace.

O God, hear my voice and grant unto the world Your everlasting peace.

     Pope St. John Paul II

Prayer for Migrants and Refugees

Lord Jesus, help us by your grace,
to banish fear from our hearts,
that we may embrace each of your children
as our own brother and sister;
To welcome migrants and refugees with joy and genersity,
while responding to their many needs;
To realize that you call all people to your holy mountain
to learn the ways of peace and justice;
To share of our abundance
as you spread a banquet before us;
To give witness to your love for all people,
as we celebrate the many gifts they bring.
We praise you and give you thanks for the family
you have called together from so many people.
We see in this human family a reflection of the divine
unity of the one Most Holy Trinity in whom we
make our prayer: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
--United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

God, source of all freedom,
 this day is bright with the memory
 of those who declared that life and liberty
 are your gift to every human being.
 Help us to continue a good work begun long ago.
 Make our vision clear and our will strong:
 that only in human solidarity will we find liberty,
 and justice only in the honor that belongs
 to every life on earth.
 Turn our hearts toward the family of nations:
 to understand the ways of others,
 to offer friendship,
 and to find safety only in the common good of all.
 We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Catechism of the Catholic Church
Paragraph 767 "When the work which the Father gave the Son to do on earth was accomplished, the Holy Spirit was sent on the day of Pentecost in order that he might continually sanctify the Church."174 Then "the Church was openly displayed to the crowds and the spread of the Gospel among the nations, through preaching, was begun."175 As the "convocation" of all men for salvation, the Church in her very nature is missionary, sent by Christ to all the nations to make disciples of them.176

The Holy Spirit came to Mary and the Apostles as tongues of fire.

There are so many things
to pray for:
far too many to mention.
But consider this:
God brings peace
and where there is
God's peace,
things are
as they should be.

Pray therefore,
for peace.!

Prayer for Christian Unity

Lord Jesus Christ,
you call us together in faith and love.
Breathe again the new life of your Holy Spirit among us that we may hear your holy Word, pray in your name,
seek unity among Christians,
and live more fully the faith we profess.
All glory and honor be yours with the Father, and the Holy Spirit,
forever and ever. Amen.
